Health Ministry
The Health Ministry/Parish nurse program at First United Methodist Church has begun its sixth year. The program serves our members and others in the community by offering:
- Support in times of illness, stress, or death.

- Timely educational offerings
- Advocacy for members, including assisting members with the understanding of disease processes, medications, or any number of medical issues.
- Visitation in all settings with an emphasis on total wellness - mind, body, and spirit.
- Several support groups are offered
- Volunteers to help with errands, light yard or house work, transportation or companionship
Current Support Groups
Caregiver Support group:
When: weekly on Wednesdays from 2:30-3:30
Where: in the Health Ministry Office at the church.
Who: This is an ongoing group for those caring for a loved one or friend in the home, a long term care facility, or distance care giving - it is open to new members at all times.
Grief Group
When: Conducted about 2 times each year and this group meets for 8 weeks.
Who: Contact the parish nurse if you or someone you know is in need of this type of support.
How Can I Help?
The health ministry is always open to new volunteers
to keep this program going strong. Contact the parish nurse or the health ministry chairperson if you would like to volunteer to help those in need in Bend. You can volunteer on a regular basis or for a one-time need.
